Day at the Park

I get a lot of questions about lifestyle photography. I guess I've honed my skills by shooting weddings. In most cases, when I'm running around the house or the park in this case, I photograph what I see and find visually pleasing. Of course, my son will always be visually pleasing to me!!! I love shooting with a fast lens (a 1.8 or lower) and kind of observe. Kids are so curious about everything and that makes for a great lifestyle photo session. You can pick up some decent "fast" glass for a reasonable price. If you're shooting with a Rebel or 40D series you can get into a 50mm f/1.8 for under $100 and with the chip in those cameras the lens is actually an 80mm. This is a great portrait lens and allows you to really open up your aperture and get that super shallow Depth of Field... a photographer's best friend!

I'm working on putting together a photography class here in the next few months. Let me know if any of you would be interested in an affordable way to learn some of the basics and some more advanced photography, nerd stuff. I'd love to know how many of you would go for something like that. Ask around. Have a great week!!!

I'd be interested, Justin. Keep me posted. It's been way too long since we've chatted. You not playing drums anymore or what?!?

Let me know. I'd love to take some of my useless knowledge and pass it on!!! I'm doing private lessons for a couple of people right now. Maybe we could make a class out of it.
